Developing a speech therapy program

OIC Australia is supporting OIC Cambodia to facilitate the development of a Cambodia-based University course to train local speech therapists. Our aim is to train local therapists who are equipped and motivated to work within the public sectors in Cambodia. This course will train graduates to work with both children and adults.

OIC Cambodia does this by

  • Building partnerships with Cambodian and international universities

  • Engaging with experts to guide the development of the training course

  • Helping to design the course structure, teaching format, and content

  • Providing support, including technical expertise, for Cambodian university staff

  • Collaborating with the Royal Government of Cambodia to create speech therapy jobs in education, health and disability sectors

  • Working with a variety of stakeholders to increase the recognition and perceived value of speech therapy in Cambodia

  • Facilitating the development of professional standards and clinical competencies for Cambodian speech therapists by working with partner NGOs, government and sector leaders

  • Engaging and collaborating with members of the Cambodian Speech Therapy Network
